FAQ

About Solira

Who makes Solira?

Every Solira piece is designed by Prabha Ellawala, a Sri Lankan founder bridging the craftsmanship of Sri Lanka with French design. Each garment is hand-cut and hand-sewn by women artisans in Sri Lanka, fairly paid and given the time their skill deserves.

What makes Solira different from other clothing brands?

Solira isn't mass-produced. Every piece is made in small batches, from high-quality European flax linen and organic cotton, by artisans working under fair, ethical conditions. We prioritize craftsmanship and transparency over speed and volume.

Materials & Quality

What fabric is Solira made from?

Our pieces are made from a blend of 55% European flax linen and 45% organic cotton. Flax linen is one of the most sustainable fibers available - it requires minimal water and improves in texture with wear.

Why is the fabric blend important?

The linen gives structure and breathability; the organic cotton adds softness and comfort. Together, they create a fabric that's durable, natural, and gets better with age.

Is the fabric certified organic or sustainably sourced?

Yes. Our flax is European-grown and our cotton is certified organic. We work only with ethically sourced materials from field to finished garment.

How should I care for my Solira piece?

Linen-cotton blends are best hand-washed or machine-washed on a gentle, cold cycle, then air-dried. Avoid high heat -  it's gentler on the fibers and keeps the fabric's texture intact over time. (Always check the care label on your specific piece.)

Pricing

Why are Solira pieces priced the way they are?

Our prices reflect the true cost of ethical production: European flax linen, organic cotton, and fair wages for the women artisans who hand-sew every piece. We don't cut corners to lower costs - we'd rather make fewer pieces, made well.

Do you offer sets or bundles?

Yes. Buying a top and skirt or dress as a set gives you a discount compared to purchasing each piece individually. Set pricing and savings are listed on each product page.

Will there be sales or discounts?

Occasionally, yes, but our everyday pricing already reflects fair-trade production costs, so discounts will be limited and intentional rather than frequent.

The Artisans

Who are the women behind Solira?

Solira works with a small atelier of women artisans in Sri Lanka. They cut, sew, and finish every piece by hand. Their skill and care are the foundation of the brand.

Are the artisans fairly paid?

Yes. Fair wages and ethical working conditions are non-negotiable for us, it's central to why Solira exists.

Can I see how the pieces are made?

Yes! We regularly share behind-the-scenes photos and videos on Instagram showing the artisans at work- from fabric cutting to hand-sewing each garment.

Sizing & Fit

How do Solira pieces fit?

Solira comes in three sizes: XS-S, M-L, and XL-XXL. Each size is designed around its larger reference size - for example, XS-S is built for a true size S fit. If you're an XS, expect a slightly relaxed, looser fit; if you're a size S, expect the ideal balance of fit and ease. The same logic applies across M-L and XL-XXL.

Do you have a size guide?

Yes, a detailed size chart is available on each product page to help you choose the right fit.

What if my item doesn't fit?

See our Returns & Exchanges section below.

Orders, Shipping & Returns

Where do you ship?

We currently ship across Europe, with France as our home base.

How long does shipping take?

Since pieces are made in small batches, please allow 2-3 business days for processing, plus 2-5 business days for delivery within Europe - so around 5-10 business days total from order to delivery.

Because pieces are hand-sewn, are there longer processing times?

Not really, our stock is held in Paris, so once you place an order, we dispatch within 2-3 business days. The hand-sewing happens upstream, during production, not after you order - so you're not waiting on the craftsmanship itself, just standard processing and delivery.

What is your return policy?

We offer returns within 25 days of delivery. Items must be unworn, unwashed, and in their original condition with tags attached. Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll process your refund to the original payment method.
